The City of Estacada decided to take advantage of a General Electric incentive to change out their 90-30 PLCs with RX3i PLCs. Since the RX3i has an on board ethernet port, in addition to upgrading the controllers, the radio hardware was also upgraded. The serial Data-Linc radios were changed to a newer, faster Ethernet Data-Linc radio. As an added benefit, the ethernet connection allows online programming and monitoring from the wastewater treatment plant. OCD Automation completed this PLC and communications upgrade without interrupting any of the city’s water or wastewater operations.
